The energy issue around AI makes Apple's move even more genius
1) It's contextual
2) It drives action
3) The data centers are carbon neutral - and will remain so even once their solutions are released into the wild
That last point is known - but not talked about much (even at the Keynote -nada). 1 and 2 are already a massive differentiation. 3 will become massive - once the environmental impact sinks in.
Doesn't this assume that energy remains in short supply though? I'm optimistic and believe we'll be swimming in energy in the next several years. Does that change the equation? Or is the timing off and we see a crash due to a short term spike in energy demand first?
Would love for you to be right, but that's not what most people think. In any case, costs need to be considered. And paid
