I'm still bothered by the fact that the carbon footprint of solar and wind is about as high was gas turbines. I'd put a ton of effort behind nuclear to avoid the chaos you refer to. The worst part is the battery technology that's shredding ecosystems in Indonesia and the Congo, using literal slave labor, to make non gas vehicles.
